"You have to learn to create and release." -Rachelle Sylvain, CEO, R-Motivation
The other day, I was speaking with a fellow business owner and community leader, and we both had to laugh (and sigh) at how full our calendars have become. Calendars full of good things, creative things, divinely inspired things. We’ve both been blessed with wisdom and creativity, and we know how to build. But here's the hard truth: sometimes we build so much that we end up buried under the very things we created.
It’s a cycle I’ve seen in myself. God gives me vision to create spaces...for growth, healing, celebration, connection. And I love it. But somewhere along the way, I start to believe I have to own and maintain everything I build. I become the host, the engine, the glue. And eventually… I burn out. I show up at half-capacity, faking strength when I really need rest.
That conversation reminded me: we need to normalize creating and releasing. We need to create frameworks and spaces, and then trust others to carry them forward. To steward them. To even improve them. I’ve been guilty of gatekeeping what God gave me to give away.
This is my gentle reminder to myself and to other thought leaders, founders, builders:
You are called to create. But you are not called to carry it all.
Create. And release.
Let others run with the vision. And give yourself permission to breathe.
